The training course was implemented in Kisumu, Kenya, coordinated by the Kenyan organization “Resource Hub for Development” (RHD) in cooperation with PRISM, in the frame of the Erasmus+ project “Child Protection and Development: Youth Work Experiences across the World”, involving 10 youth workers from Italy, Kenya, Peru, India, Greece and Spain.
The training introduced participants to community projects targeting children and young people both in rural and urban areas of Kisumu, exploring how education and community engagement can foster protection and development of vulnerable children.
Learning activities included:
– Child Protection definition and core points within the term
– A child rights situation analysis: Kisumu region
– Understanding the right to education for children: identifying violations
– Elements towards a protective environment
– The rings of responsibility
– Children’s resilience, life skills and participation
– Strengthening education: local practices and case studies
– Visits to local community projects
– Kenya: funding and opportunities for international cooperation and development
– Follow up, Youthpass and final evaluation.
Resource Hub for Development (RHD) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-religious, non-political, humanitarian and development organization that is committed in poor marginalized rural and urban slums in the Kisumu country.
