The training course “Experiential Lab: Child Rights Programming and Nonviolent Community Development” was implemented in Caltanissetta, Italy, from 8th to 14th May 2017, involving 37 youth workers and 10 organizations from Italy, Spain, Morocco, Egypt, France, Greece, Palestine, Tunisia, Turkey, Jordan.
The training course provided a non-formal & creative training on “child rights programming”, equipping participants with knowledge & practical tools to undertake a child rights situation analysis & design community-based projects through a child rights-based approach, analytical steps & logical framework planning. Overall the project aimed to foster capacity of youth workers to guarantee rights and protection of vulnerable children in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
The training activities included:
– The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child
– A child rights situation analysis: rights violations and duty bearers
– The problem tree
– Image theatre: analysing internalized oppression
– The objective tree & selection of strategies
– Forum theatre: turning problems into solutions
– Project Design: the logical framework approach
– Relevance, feasibility, sustainability and CRC pillars
– Open forum: Unaccompanied refugee children in the Euro-Mediterranean region
