First results of Training Course “BEING YOUR HOST”

BEING YOUR HOST: BEtter INclusion of YOUng Refugees in HOsting SocieTies

Caltanissetta, 14-22 July 2019

The training course “BEING YOUR HOST” has been held in Caltanissetta from 14-22 July 2019. The 23 participants have acquired knowledge, key competences and employable tools needed to enhance the socio-professional integration and human development of young refugees in the hosting communities. All the activities have been implemented through intercultural working groups and teambuilding. During the TC, participants has been working on migration topics through active learning, the sharing of experience& self-assessment of the learning process; finally, they will follow up the TC with new projects &initiatives, creating new partnerships. Through visits in Palermo, Caltanissetta and daily exchange of cultural habits (intercultural nights with presentation of food, dances and costumes) the multicultural group of participants has established an informal space of mutual learning. This will remain an experience they will never forget.

COUNTRIES INVOLVED: 23 participants from Italy, Spain, Jordan, Algeria, Greece, Egypt, Lebanon, Romania, Turkey

GENERAL OBJECTIVE

– To improve human development and socio-professional integration of young refugees in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVE

– To strengthen the knowledge, key competences and employable tools of Youth Workers who work with and for young refugees in using innovative approaches to deal with arrival assistance and trauma, development of interpersonal skills, active participation, orientation and social inclusion of refugees in EU and South Mediterranean countries.

– To empower the role of youth workers as positive agents for social change and inclusive growth in multicultural communities in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
